If you have a large list of bookmarked items at your browser, you would like to have them in every browser you use. Bookmarking them again at the browsers does not make any productive sense. Again, if you go for a re-installation of your system, you will lose all the bookmarked items. You would then want to keep a backup of your bookmarks.
Almost every browser can export the bookmarks in HTML format. You can make use of it to transfer the bookmarks among browsers or take a backup of the bookmarks so that you can restore them at any time you need.
Here is how to transfer bookmarks from Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer to each other.
Click on Bookmarks from the Firefox menu bar and select Show All Bookmarks (alternatively, press Ctrl + Shift + B to directly open the bookmarks library window).
Click the Import and Backup tab then select Export Bookmarks to HTML. (You could choose the Backup option, but it will create a .json file which other browsers can’t open – it will work only for restoring at Firefox.)
Save the file at any location of your computer. You can now import this file to any browser in which you want to transfer your Bookmarks.

Click the Google chrome menu icon from the right-top corner of the browser, select Bookmarks > Bookmark manager. ( The shortcut for the bookmark manager in Chrome is Ctrl + Shift + O.)
This will open the bookmark manager page in a new tab. Click the Organize drop-down button and select Export Bookmarks to HTML file.
If you want to import your bookmarks, simply use the import option from the drop-down menu, locate the HTML file and click on Open. All the bookmarks will be transferred to it.
You can access the imported bookmarks from the Import folder.
In Internet Explorer, click the Tools > Explorer bars > Favorites. ( You can also use Ctrl + Shift + I as shortcut to open the Favorites page. )
Click the arrow sign beside the Add to favorites button and select Import and export.
Select Export to a File option and press the Next button. ( If you want to import bookmarks at Internet Explorer, use the Import from a file option.)
Tick the check-box to select favorites by and click the Next button.
Select your favorite items to export – to export all the favorites, select the Favorites button. ( it is selected by default.)
Click Next and locate the place where you want to export the file and click Export and then click Finish.
You can use all the exported files to import the bookmarks into any browser. You can also sync your bookmarks using Dropbox so that you don’t need to transfer them manually.
If you enabled the cloud-sync option in your browsers, you can lose them if you accidentally delete your favorites or bookmarks as the browsers’ clod-sync feature does not have the ‘roll back’ option.
